Issue date: 3/1/10 Section: Entertainment
After weeks of late night cram sessions, little to no sleep ands exams in all directions, we're all ready for a chance to relax on spring break.
For some of us, spring break will offer little difference from the norm.
We will go to work, hang out with friends and sleep a bit more than normal.
For others though, spring break is a time to buy new bathing suits, gather friends and make a visit to the beach.
For the latter of the two groups, it is extremely important to exercise caution during spring break.
If you're planning a road trip with your friends, make sure you take the time to find accurate directions.
Start journey with a trip to the gas station, and make sure your tires are up to snuff.
Drive during the day, and change drivers every few hours or so. You may want to choose a chatty co-pilot that will keep you awake.
If you are staying in a hotel, choose a room that is above the first floor and below the sixth, according to safespringbreak.org.
first floor rooms are more likely to be broken into, and fire ladders are sometimes unable to reach rooms higher than the sixth floor.
And of course, we must make mention of alcohol.
If you are going to drink, do so responsibly.
Don't drive after consuming any alcohol.
Driving with a buzz is still considered drunk driving.
Exercise caution when drinking on the beach.
Not only can you become dehydrated, but he sun also tends to exacerbate the effects of alcohol.
Above all, use common sense.
Have a fun, relaxing and safe spring break!
