Choosing the right major

Do you have a major?
This may sound like a funny question considering this publication ciruclates around a college, but the question is a legitimate one.
There are many individuals at Volunteer State Community College who have not yet declared a major when they first enroll at Vol State.
It is relatively common knowledge that students do not have to declare a major when they first enroll at Vol State.
The first two sememsters are filled primarily with general education courses that are required for (almost)all majors.
However, it is important that students think seriously about their major at some point during their academic career.
Rather than opting for "easy" classes,or sticking solely to general education, why not take a class that truly interests you?
How about trying a class that is somewhat out of your comfort zone?
Vol State offers a wide variety of classes that are just waiting to be filled by eager students.
Spending time experiencing different classes so that you can choose a major that is best suited to you.
Don't let fear of the unknown dictate your actions, and don't shy away from alittle hard work.
Everything in life worth doing requires considerable effort.
If you're avoiding taking a class that interests you because you fear the work load, perhaps you should re-examine your priorities.
Are you willing to miss out on tapping into an unknown passion simply because it requires a little work?
Will you let fear stop your future?
Take a chance and step out.
