Students can now go online and create a ride post.
Some students include the hours and days they need to be carpooled with their e-mail address and location.
Others post their location and when they can carpool with other students as long as the gas bill can be split.
There are students driving from all over Middle Tennessee to Vol State.
However, the school is not responsible for screening drivers, so students will need to do that themselves.
"All we do in regards to carpooling is run the ride board on the blog. It's a place for students to post if they need rides or are offering rides, said Eric Melcher coordinator of public relations.
It seems to be more popular when gas prices are higher. We stress that it's only a posting place and students need to carefully decide who they want to ride with," said Melcher.
With gas prices staying around the $2.50 range, students should consider the financial opportunity.
Students can check out the ride post, and create their own at http://volunteerstatecommunitycollege.blogspot.com/search/label/rideboard.

This is a great idea both for saving money and for being more environmentally friendly. Hopefully a lot of people will make use of the rideshare.
