Issue date: 4/27/09 Section: Sports
The NBA playoffs are one of the few post seasons in professional sports that render its regular season completely unwatchable.
The playoffs are the NBA's time to shine, and to put on a show for the casual fan.
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently leading in its series against the Utah Jazz, who look like they are over matched in every facet of the game . The Jazz are a dead fly on the bottom of the shoe of Kobe Bryant and his gang of Lakers, who right now look like they couldn't be beaten by a team of Air Jordans.
But looming in the mid-west, is the Cleveland Cavaliers who finished this season with the best record in the NBA, won its division, and have put the beating of a life time on the Detroit Pistons.
Every thing is pointing to final showdown between Bryant of the Lakers and Lebron "King" James. If both manage to persevere, their battle will be epic, a kin to Magic vs. Bird in the 1980's.
While these two basketball behemoths could be on a collision course for greatness, there are at least three teams that might spoil that clash.
The Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets are the teams that have the best chance to defeat the Lakers and the Cavaliers. These three teams have dynamic point guards that could create problems for the best teams in the NBA.
But these three teams, the Bulls, the Celtics, and the Nuggets, are nothing more than challengers because in the end it will be Kobe vs. King James, a true clash of titans.
