Registration is now open for summer classes, including Maymester. This allows students to take a class that normally takes an entire semester in under a month.

The classes meet for three hours or more every day for five days a week. There will be 23 classes offered this Maymester, including Astronomy, Health Assessment and the Astronomy lab.

There are several different ways to take courses this summer.

"It is a chance for students to get ahead," said Eric Melcher, coordinator of communication and public relations. It is also good if students need a few extra hours to further advance students' college career.

According to a recent press release, there will be some classes that run like a regular semester class and will go from May 30 to August 8. There will also be a five week class schedule offered. It will go from May 30 to July 2, as well as a second five week course version that runs from July 6 to August 8.

If any students are looking to take a summer class and are wondering about the cost, it will be the same as a fall or spring course, and financial aid is available in some instances. If a student is full time in both the spring and fall semesters, then they will be on their own to pay for these classes in most cases.

However, if students were only part time in the spring and fall semesters, they might have some aid available, but students have to take at least two classes and be considered a part time student to qualify.

To find out what aid a student may be eligible for, they can call the financial aid office at 230-3453.

Also, according to a recent email, teachers will be able to take two recertification classes this summer. Child psychology and education of exceptional children will both be offered. Logistics and supply chain management will offer two online classes: warehouse and distribution center management and introduction to logistics and supply chain management.

The EMS Education program will have an emergency medical technician basic course specifically designed for registered nurses who are looking to acquire new career skills.

Many of the classes offered will be general education courses.

"It's really flexible," said Melcher, as he flipped through the summer course catalog, which can be picked up in the foyer in the Hal Reed Ramer Administration Building.
