Haylie Shackelford has been on a vegitarian diet for five months. She feels better now and has more self-confidence than before.

After 18 years, Volunteer State Community College student Haylie Schackelford has changed her eating habits simply by writing a paper for English about animal cruelty.
She is only five months into the journey, but plans on continuing it for the rest of her life.

Since this five month expedition begun, Schackelford not only feels better physically, but also has had a boost of self-confidence. She says the most important thing to be a vegetarian is self-control, watching how much you eat and pay attention to details on the meals you are ordering.

Although, Shackelford is a vegetarian, she is a 'flexitarian' and she needs to get her protein from some where so she occasionally will eat fish, shrimp, beans, and soy milk.
Some other tips about how to replace meat is to eat some peanut butter. She also takes B-12 vitamins which helps her digest, increases her blood cell counts, curbs her appetite, and increases her energy level.

Not only do these pills make your insides healthy but it they also help you lose weight.

Eating healthier is more expensive, but instead of buying the Boca veggie burgers or soy milk, just go for some milk, cheese, or some sort of dairy.

But Schackelford offers her belief on this consensus, "I believe what you believe in, should come before money."

As far as Schackelford's voyage goes, there have been severe positive side effects such as, she's not as hungry anymore, she enjoys eating vegetables, and has lost 25 pounds.

"I ain't complaining," said Schackelford's boyfriend Benton Oglesby on the loss of 25 pounds.

In fact Oglesby has been so supportive of Schackelford's life style change that he himself has cut red meat out of his diet.
