The Lady Pioneers win against Motlow State

The score may not sound close, but Motlow St. played about as good as they could in the second half and gave the Lady Pioneers everything they could handle, also took the lead 61-60 over the Lady Pioneers in the second half of this Saturday's game.
The Lady Pioneers were lead in scoring by freshman, Shaniqua Gray with 19 points.
Freshman, Vee Young also contributed 17 points of her own even though she came out of the game limping and did miss some time in the first period with the Pioneers leading Motlow St. 40-29. Also sophomore, Jessica Sukkert and freshman, Katie Richardson showed heart and played exceptional defense and stifled the Motlow St. offense in the first half of this Saturday's win.
After being dominated in the post by Young , Motlow St. came out in the second like a new team, and they would take the lead with about three minutes left in the game, 61-60.
After a brief time out, the Pioneers came out with a renewed sense of urgency on the defensive side of the ball. They were aggressive with their traps at the mid-court line, and also at the base-line on the in bounds pass. They created turnovers, which turned to points, and were actively feeding Young the ball in paint which created opportunities at the rim, and for Young created chances to get fouled and to make foul shots.
The Pioneers created their own luck and when they had to at the free throw line converted key shots to take the lead with a minute and a half in the in the game courtesy of Young and Richardson. For the rest of the game The Pioneers created turnovers, points and eventually took the game out of reach for Motlow St.
The Lady Pioneers won because of old school basketball principles, tenacious defense and a consistent offense, that they used to power by Motlow St.
