To understand a candidate and
where he stands, we must understand
where he comes from.

There are misconceptions that
Obama is a Muslim, or that he might
be a Communist since one of his childhood
mentors, Frank Marshall Davis,
is a member of the Communist Party.

While he admits going to socialist
conferences, and coming into contact
with Marxist literature, he maintains
he is not a Communist or a Socialist,
according to www.aim.org.

Beating out Hillary Clinton to secure
the Democratic nomination, Obama
has now come head to head with Mc-
Cain for the presidential race.

Some critics say that Obama does
not have enough experience to get us
through the recession we are experiencing
right now. A recent poll of
Americans, as reported by ABC News
and the Washington Post, showed that
52 percent to 43 percent show more
faith in Obama to get America through
the economic crisis at hand.

He can only hope that his abrupt
rise to fame continues. He gave the
keynote address at the 2004 Democratic
Convention, starting his rise to fame.
He had run for the U.S. House seat in
2000, but was bested by former football
player Bobby Rush. In November of
the year, he gave the keynote address
he won the U.S. Senate seat beating out
Alan Keyes.

Firsts for Obama are no new thing,
according to a biography on him from
www.cnn.com, he was the first African-
American to be president of the
Harvard Law Review, and his run for
the Senate was a first time in history
for a general race between two African-
Americans.

Obama may not have the experience
that McCain has, but that is no reason
not to vote for him. McCain will just
take us down the same road we have
been going with George W. Bush.

I am going to vote for Obama because
I believe he has better economic
and foreign policies than McCain.

We need serious help with what is
going on in our economy.

Also, McCain is all about this war
that is going on in Iraq. We do not need
a complete pull out of the troops, but
we do need a quicker plan than Mc-
Cain has.

Iraq does not want us there. So why
should we be there?

We shouldn't. And I think Obama
will be the one to get us out.
