E2Campus went into effect Monday October 29th. E2Campus is Volunteer State's text message alert system. "269 people have registered as of Monday" said Kenyatta Lovett, Director of Public Relations. Some popular carriers that are compatible with the alerts include AT&T, Nextel, T mobile, Virgin and Verizon.
To create an account students must go to www.volstate.edu/txt.html. From there students must enter their name, create a user name and password, and phone number.
"Students can pick between text alerts or email alerts" said Lovett.
When students sign up for the text alerts, they will get a conformation text. According to the Vol State web page E2Campus enforces a zero spam policy. That prevents unsolicited messages from appearing on the phones. The information that students submit will not be given out to anybody. Students can also change their contact information at anytime. www.e2campus.com/test_your_phone.htm allows student to test to see if their phone is compatible.
