Student online evaluations of faculty began November 19, 2009 and will last through December 11, 2009. An email was sent out on November 19th to students, encouraging them to evaluate their teachers for each class. VSCC student Holly Herman stated "I will be doing my teacher evaluations this semester because I think it gives teachers good and bad feedback on how they're doing.
Christmas for kids is back, and students are ready to help Vol State families once again. Student Government Assiocation, Returning Womens Organizations, and Phi Theta Kappa are just some of the clubs contributing to this holiday annual event. "It's designed to focus on children of Vol State students ages 12 and under.
There is something new on campus this year. On Saturday, November 14, there was a table tennis tournament in the Vol State Community College Gym. There were 38 participants that were separated into four different age groups: 8-12 yrs. old, 13-17, 18+, and seniors/55+.
There are several service learning opportunities available at Vol State. There are many ways that service learning can benefit students along with, of course, other people. "Service learning benefits students in so many ways. Primarily, it gives students the opportunity to connect theory learned in the classroom to real life experiences.
SGA is now accepting applications for a new Secretary of State. Adriel Porter, current Secretary, has been rewarded an internship into the Walt Disney World Program. "Secretary Porter did an outstanding job in her single semester serving as our Secretary of State.
An information session for the summer 2010 study abroad programs was conducted in the Mattox Building at Volunteer State Community College on Tuesday, Nov. 17. The study abroad programs are offered through the Tennessee Consortium for International Studies (TnCIS), to which Vol State belongs.
