For freshmen Malcolm Kimes, TSU's welcoming week proved to be a great start to his college career.
Kimes, a marketing major from Harvey, Ill., went on a college tour and admitted when he visited TSU, it seemed like it was where he should be.
"The atmosphere was great and it just seemed right," Kimes said.

A few days ago, the biggest question mark on the offensive side of the ball was answered when David Elson named sophomore K.J. Black starting quarterback. In the Toppers system, he seems to be the clear cut choice. He's outperformed David Wolke and Brandon Smith, and has a better upside of the three.

The stage is set for debate. The issue-the drinking age. In 1984, Congress passed a law that reduced annual federal highway funding by 10 percent for any state with a drinking age lower than 21. But in 2009, Congress would have to reauthorize the bill for it to remain law.

In late June, TSU student DeAngelo White died in a Detroit, hospital. He was involved in a motorcycle accident in his hometown of Detroit.
White was a freshman and a member of the university's Collegiate 100 Black Men chapter.
